Sovereign Email Hosting — Our Beta
Our first service is now running as a beta: — sovereign email hosting in the Nordics.
The beta program we're providing now is free of charge, but we kindly ask that you provide feedback if you're able. Hopefully everything will run smoothly but since it is a beta program, there may be bugs. Email reliability is a Big Deal and we take it super-seriously. Though it's highly unlikely we'll lose anything, please backup anything you think important.
It's worth noting that there is likely to be an update to the software that we're using. This is certainly true for the Debian software that we use as base (Debian 13) but it's also quite likely to affect both Bulwark, which receives frequent updates, as well as Stalwart which is planning to update to 1.0 soon.
- You can encrypt your email, both when it hits the server and end-to-end with a PGP key.
- Stalwart and PGP Encryption works - so text search might not function as you expect and you can get locked out of your email if you use E2E encryption if you lose your password.
- Keep back-ups

What "beta" means
With regard to expectations - you should expect a highly featured and good UX, both with Stalwart and Bulwark.
This beta period, which will extend roughly three months, will be without cost.
The current support channel is via Mastodon. A bug tracker will be set-up as well as a mailing list and support email.
Once the beta is over, there may be another launched up until the end of the year, but General Availability will be coming soon as well, if not at the end of the year. By 2027 I will have been running Stalwart in production for two years, commercially for one year and I believe it will be ready for a larger audience.
